Coach Nicholas Dupuis has announced a provisional 33-man squad for South Sudan’s national football team, the Bright Stars, ahead of the 2024 Total Energies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) Qualifiers. The team will begin training on October 22 at Juba National Football Stadium, preparing for a crucial knockout match against Kenya in the CECAFA regional qualifiers. The winner of this tie will face either Djibouti or Rwanda, with the victor earning a spot in the CHAN 2024 finals.
The first-leg matches are set for October 25-27, 2024, with the return legs between November 1-3, 2024. The CHAN tournament will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania from February 1-28, 2025. As the host nations have already qualified, CECAFA has one remaining spot up for grabs, which South Sudan will be aiming to secure.
Key players from South Sudan’s top clubs are included in the squad, and the team hopes to make history by advancing further in the competition with solid preparation
